Really cool. I have had little luck trying anything but Monte Carlo.

Same with me, until now. The trick is to make start with nice setup without GI. In this case I use a panel light with raytraced soft shadow that cover about the size of the window. Along with that I use a infinite light for the sunlight that comes trough the window, also with raytraced shadows. The envoirement material is off. This setup alone will make the wall agains the window and the cubes faces that points to the camera totaly dark.
If I turn on GI montecarlo I start to get a nicer look but itīs grainy as hell, and still pretty dark. Photon will fix this but you need to crank up the amound of photons and the result will be splotchy or you will lose details.
As I understand it, hybrid will use the light to cast around the rays bouncin 4 times in my setup then my camera will look a each point and gather the data. 5000 was enough to give good details, uppering the samples will give a smoother result but costs in time. Same with using more photons and you still need to upper the samples to get it smooth.
