I'm looking after my graphic card upgrade.

Since now I'm using a g550 dual screen 2x 1280 x 1024, but the lcd(my primary display) has a bit of flickering when I enable the second display, I would like to upgrade.

I would like to know if someone of you own a matrox pharelia with cinema 4d v7 and has opengl feature enabled.

thank's
claudio

I was a G450 user claudio, and trust me when you upgrade, which you should, do not stick with matrox ounless 90% of your work is video. Fact is their 3D sucks. they had great dual display and video, far better than that on my dual ATI 900pro, but the 3D isn't even close to the same level, the Parhelia isn't scoring more than half what my card is, and mine is at least 1/3 the price if not less.

The only other option I can accept is the TI4800, because I play also C&C generals and it seems the only two cards ride generals as good as it should be are the pharelia and the 4800.

Do you think the 3D of pharelia is not good as that one of the 4800 kai??

I really love the dual screen(or 3 for pharelia) of matrox it's really better than any other I think.

With the ATI do you have the quick launch bar goes onto the 2nd display?

I'm telling you claudio, the 3D performance is about half my 9000pro in benchmarks, and the 9000pro isn't as good as the TI4800. Perhelia would be a mistake unless tou need three monitor display or are doing 90% video editing.

The cards I would look at are the TI4800 or the ATI 9700pro, or their highend counterparts. But Parhelia isn't even comparing to the gamer cards 1/3 its price. I loved my matrox (still have it in a box next to my pc not sure what to do with it now its still a great card) But performance in games, clay and C4D have gone up so drastically I don't think I could go back. as for the ATI it doesn't continue the taskbar onto the second display. Honestly it doesn't have as much control as the matrox card that I can see, might be missing some things, but I love having internet window open on opposing windows rather than on top of eachother and saving which window certain apps open on. supposed to be able to do that, but many apps always open on the first screen. Thing I miss most was the DVDmax option though to automatically play files fulscreen on the second display, though not sure about nvidia, but ATI's multimedia software makes up for that remembering if a movie was fullscreen upon exit so next movie opens the same. so I still get the same feature just in a different way.

If the Parnhelia was the same price as the 900pro, I'd say sure why not, but being so much more expensive I don't see how anyone could justify it.

I've bought the pharelia kaisai, don't kick me..........I've tried the c4d demo at my brother's pc with dual and it's ok.

Also Adobe Premiere seems another application.........and the c&c generals run with dual monitor at the same speed as 1 without any kind of flickering. In addition you have the same control over the dual screen has the 550 has got + something else........not tried many time!!

With your card do you have the shortcut to clone the display? With the matrox yes, and this is for me a MUST to have!!

The render engine of c4d doesn't use the card processor?

thank's to you all for the support you gave me.......

Rendering doesn't use the card, but doing anything in the editor willl if you have OGL turned on. As fr as I know all dual displays have shortcuts to change modes nowadays, its standard.

Do you agree with me Kai, that the matrox has the best color and quality of image ever seen?

Yesterday I've tested the card with games and with cinema 4d.
I'm working on a Zippo, and with the 550 it was a pain with every change in the camera. Now it takes some seconds to load the obj into the RAM but when it's there, oh man, it's absolutelly fantastic.

IMHO the dual screen feature now are not so easy to manage compared to the G550 but the quality remain the same both with 1 or 2 monitor, I would lite to try also to put a TV on the 3rd channel and I don't know, maybe make some tutorial/recording test on a VHS.

colours never realy differ, but the AA on the new ATI I find much better. Sorry to hear about the dual not being quite as good. you should download cinebench and see where it stands.

I will try this cinebench this evening and I publish the results

On my G4 I've a radeon but I'm not really satisfied with that card.
On Pc I've tried also a nice prophet and it sucks a lot!!!

I don't know anything about the last ATI but I know the TI4200(nvidia) and I don't like the way it menage the gamma.
