Hey guys,
I'm a modeler who has been away from the 3D industry since 02' due to unfortunate circumstances. Basically, I have recently finished a website and a new demoreel
taylored towards animations, environments, and characters, and I will soon be making
a strong attempt at landing a job in the gaming industry.
My issue is that I know the graphics in games have gone beyond everything I ever saw in 02', and I'm not sure if my work is still good enough to land a job nowadays. My point of this post is to ask if any of the skilled artists on this board can please view my reel and let me know where I stand. Can I get a job with this reel? Please give me some advice. Thank you for your time.

If you have a fast connection, please download the High-Res version because the image quality of the low-res one sucks.

Well, I'm only a student at this point so I'm not sure how much my 2 cents means, but I wouldn't count you out by any means. I have a few c & c's though. With a lot of the next gen games they are pushing realism, thats obvious. So in some of your characters I would suggest reworking the proportions. The female model you have, it seems her upper body is just too small to be going with her lower half and the hips are massive compared to her waistline. Although you male soldier character seemed spot-on. Between what you did and what is going on now I'd say the biggest thing you should concern yourself with is learning zBrush of Mudbox. Since most nextgen models are a few thousand give or take with a normal applied to them.
Learning the software is secondary to talent, you had it then and you have it now. Just pickup a copy of zBrush or mudbox, hammer out some new basemeshes and do some digital sculpting and in no time you'll be producing nextgen characters. I might be oversimplifying the process a bit but if you've figured out before it's a sure thing you'll do it again.

~Best of luck on your endeavors and welcome back!
