View Full Version : particleCollide
arunspooja 02-01-2007, 11:57 AM Hai friends
Iam new to particles
I have created the particle to emit from surface of an object
And the particle shapes are instanced by two objects
while emitting the two objects are emitted sequentially, but one object collide with another
Is there any possiblility to avoid colliding one object and another
ie, to maintain some distance between two particles
Thankyou

hi arun i suppose increasing speed n decreasing the no of particles emmited per sec wud solve ur prob
happy working

use a radial field.. with volume exclusion turned on
this will make ur particles stay away from each other,
depending on the max distace that u set :)

Good morning
Thanks for the replies
I have tried, by creating a radial field and turned on volume exclusion and made volume shape to sphere and varied the maximum distance too but still the particles collide with each other.

well,
wht i mean is that,a radial field wid volume exclusion
would try to keep the particles away from each other..
but there is some tweakin to be done on the radial field..
hmmm, here is a quick scene..tell me if u have any doubts:)
(i have used a radial field n some sphere instances)

with the radial field selected shift click the particle - flields-use selected as source of field. Then select just the radial field which lives under your particle now and turn apply per vertex on. Set a max distance and a highish magnitude. I dont think you need to worry about the type being set to sphere because by its nature a radial feild is sphereical.
Should work now

mandark1011 :
thats exactly wht i have done in that 'scene file'..:)
best of luck

Thanks for the replies colorball and mandark
I have seen the file, thankyou
But what i want to know is, if you play the below file, you can see the particle emitted from the surface collide each other.
Is there any possibility to give an offset between the particles,
I think when you see the file, you will come to know what is my doubt.
Thankyou

Im using maya 8.0 version
i have downloaded again the attachment and opened it, it worked, so i dont know what could be the problem
So again im saving it in ascii format and sending it, try this
Thankyou
Hi,
I've downloaded your particles maya file, but to be honest I have no idea what are you trying to achive.
If you want to instance spheres it's better to use bloby particles instead, or sphere particles if you can render them as hardware render or if you can use 3Delight or RMFM.

I'm trying to do something similar and basically make particles on a flat plane travel with a flat shape as a goal but need them to collide with one another so they do not ever come closer than say 10 units from eachother. I'm trying the per particle radial and it doesnt seem to be working.... any ideas?
Thanks,
Andrei

gotta make sure you Use Selected as source of field and that applyPerVertex is on for the radial field, then start adjusting your max distance of the field.
