Hi! I'm working with a team of 3 others to create this short composited piece involving 2 monsters chasing my classmate down the hall of our school. He enters running around the corner shooting back at them, kills the one on the wall, and then is taken down by the 2nd monster (not shown in this test). Our goal is to comp the monsters in seamlessly in a few weeks.. so all critiques and feedback on the animation would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Small update:

Worked out some stuff on the wall monster and moved the camera over to where the video is.. however the 2nd one running is still kinda awkward. Suggestions?

I think you have a great start! There are a couple parts that I would tweek.

The first monster that comes around the corner is animated nicely, however I think he needs more reaction when he gets shot. It kind of looks like he has a stroke and falls over dead. When he dies, his back feet slide down the wall right before he falls. I would keep those feet (the back right foot especially) on the wall a little bit longer. I would imagine that when those feet loose grip, he would hit the floor. I think they just slide a little too much.

The second monster needs more work as well. I'm guessing he slides because it's a tile floor? When he hits the wall and jumps off of it, he needs alot more weight and when he pushes off, I would extend the arms and legs more. Another thing is the trajectory in after he comes off of the wall. I would either straighten it out so he doesn't look like he's changing direction in mid air, or I would make it look more like his body is twisting. Maybe after he jumps off the wall, have his legs follow through and move more to the right of the screen.

I don't know. That was probably really confusing LOL. Overall, it's looking good, but just needs a little more love.

--my two cents :)

Wow, I am not an animator but I really like the animation, mostly of the monter that is wlaking on the walland then falls. Is it part of a bigger animaation?

:applause:

Hey thanks guys! Awesome advice! You're right about the monster on the wall.. that foot slides too much, and I will work on the gun blast impact. As for the 2nd one, I'm having the most problems with this. Yes, he's on a very reflective smooth floor, and I like how the slide turned out, but everything after that needs to be changed. Originally I wanted him to turn midair but it's just too much hassle to try and get right. I'll post an update later today.. thanks again!

Hi,nice start.What ThreeDeityMike (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=144571) already said,plus:
First character:-change a lit'bit the right hand.When he was shot,the RH goes
up,unrealistical.I'll try to temperate this.
-add more weight when he fall down.Faster.
-when appears behind the wall, put his hand comes first, and then you could
come with the body.
-knees are overanimated.I guess it's a rig problem.Maybe.Try to fix it.
-when i saw the mov. for the first time,i don't realise that he was shot.Try
to go back with the body a lit'bit, like the bullet drag the all body in his
direction.

Now,he died:)...the Second character:
-try to modify what ThreeDeityMike (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=144571) said.I don't feel that he push on to the
wall
-i think, when he is in the air(in the middle of the jump),stays too much.It
like he's flying.
-try to clinch the claws when the hand don't touch the ground.
-if he slides on the ground, play with his hips. When you slide on ice,u lose control of your body.Think on that.

Good luck. And keep it like this.

Well damn, scratch that... 3 out of 3 votes liked the constant run more, so it's back to square one. Will post more soon.

that last one with the monster getting shot looks nice think the bullet impact and monster reactions much better than the first one u started with i dunno maybe a bit more twitches in there since he gets shot a few times lol...

i really like the 2nd monster sliding one too although when he catches himself on the wall from sliding.. maybe hold that a llittle and when he jumps make it faster i like the jump but it seems too slow but thats just me...
