Title: Floating Paradise
Name: Jean-Marc Labal
Country: United States
Software: Lightwave 3D, Photoshop

Floating Paradise in the middle of the ocean.

At night and during storms the glass canopy closes to protect the inside.
(I animated it but not rendered yet...)
the diameter of the sphere is 500m, I added the oil tanker in the background
to show the size of the sphere..

scene is 4 million polys..
1 area light for the sun, monte carlo 1 bounce, perspective camera.
(the ocean uses APS, I applied a simple gradient to have more faces in the foreground and less in the background..)
previewed in fprime but rendered in lightwave. (fprime could not render that scene at high resolution)

hope you like it,

Very interesting image. Really like the modeling and concept. Maybe add a flying creat. Great work. It would be nice to see it with different setting, like at night with light reflecting off the water.

thanks ,
yes, it's my concept :)
I did a couple of test at sunset and it looked pretty good, so I will sure do one.
I will probably do also an animation showing the inside of it better..

The idea is great and the inside is incredibly detailed. Great image. I imagine that there are some undersea "roads" to go from one platform to another... Really great, it makes you imagine more about the place. Congratulations.

thanks,

that would be cool too , but the way I thought is the spheres are not connected directly..
there is a helipad on top for emergencies, but most people would enter through the
openings near the water level (those little sphere under the 3 air vents) from
cruise ships..
I wanted to add a cruise ship next to it but a cruise ship itself is another project ;)
