OK, I wanna take various bamboo shoots of different lengths and randomly distribute them over a large area.

I thought the scatter object would do the job but, can you have more than one object scattered over the same distribution object???

I can't seem to find a way to do that.

So I thought I would use a particle cloud to distribute my Bamboo Shoots. I see the option for use Sub-tree but how do you create a sub-tree. I tried making a group and that simply makes one large particle. Do I have to link all my different shoots to a point or what?

I suppose my question in a nutshell is how do you have more than one instanced object in the same particle system???

Anybody?????

Thanks,
Kayle

You don't. At least not with max's basic particles.

Try DLing "free-hand tools". It works perfect for things like this. Make a bunch of different shoots, and then you can paint them across the ground and they will emit as instances and cycle randomly between the different ones.

You can get it here:

www.scriptspot.com

or here

www.maxplugins.de

Hope that's of some help.

If you download our BlurScripts www.blur.com/blurbeta you can use the RandomTransform and Planter Script to randomly move, rotate, and scale your bamboo and then plant them to your ground object.

Cheers!
