ok, how can i make two objects the same object without boolean? ive tried connect, it should have worked because there are two holes that face each other perfectly and connect didnt do anything, anyway, ive solved it for now by creating vertices in one object that look connected to the other object but obviously they are not truly connected...How can i manually create faces that bridge the gap inbetween the two objects?

if you're comfortable with getting dirty with your mesh, just attach the two together, delete the faces where you want to join, and then under 'polygon' hit 'create' and in a counter-clockwise direction add the first 2 points on the empty face of the first object and 2 on the empty face of the second and it should create a polygon between the two, trusting that you have no stray polys in the way. You can continue this as much as needed and basically build a bridge between the two objects. Drop a meshsmooth on top to test that everything is welded correctly.

that should do it, I use it all the time to fix little screwups and to add details. I hope I described that welll. good luck.

If you are using editable meshes you can use "Connect" in the compound objects panel. The explanation in the book I'm looking at is a bit long, but I'm sure if you hit your F1 key, you can find more info about how to use connect. :D

If its the same button im thinking of ....Im guessing you tried to connect them and nouthing happend...but have you tried to attach the two (editable mesh) then use the connet...i think this should work...It does work cause I've used it before...I think you have to select the edges you want connected.... :) but hey then again i could be wrong...(was it all a dream?) hope that helps....

boy i love getting dirty with my mesh and i am fairly experienced in making my own polygons/faces manually. I'll try attaching and whatnot and look for it in the help files. However, I have a new, more disturbing problem....and rather than make a whole new thread, Ill try to explain it in here....

I made a spaceship, and i have created three sets of landing gear, a boarding ramp, and other various hatches and hinges. I want all of these things to be children of the main spaceship body, so they can operate while the ship twists and turns for a landing. However when i link them to the ship, and then rotate the ship, and THEN rotate the boarding ramp for example, the boarding ramp doesnt rotate like it should, it warps horribly! I really cant figure out why it wont rotate normally. Is there something im doing wrong? Do you think i should make a new thread?

and BTW, usually the force DOES guide me...

Are you rotating in local space? Perhaps you just need a dummy or two and to re consider the hierarchy.. Play with that and let us know.

Ok, local coordinates worked perfectly, thanks for all of your help, its why i come here!
