I have a classic, yet challenging, scenario to resolve.

I have a bouncing ball.

I want the ball to squash at any point, no matter what the rotation is.

Jason Schiefler achieved this very easily in Maya, but I can't recall what he used to control the plane of squashing.

Any ideas? I hope the answer is simple.

use lattices. You can constrain the lattices to your model and no matter where it bounces it will squash and stretch correctly. check the softimage.com website under tutorials or training and youll find a sample scene and a tutorial video. cheers!

Thank you.

Would you say the lattice is the same as the "non-linear squash node" in Maya?

Could you tell me what tutorial it is? Maybe link it?

Never mind. I just remembered I have them DVD.
