Good start!

The only thing I'd say so far is that the wrinkles on his shorts are overdone.

Fine progression. I assume you'll work on the head, it's too roundy in my opinion. and the muscles beside the lower-abdomen needs to be expressed. Like Arnie's. It looks damn cool. I would really like to see a smoothed preview of it, monkeysweet. I think it would be cool if you two would join forces and post each others progress here. Would be comprehensive for everyone.

Try to assign a more shiny material to bring out the form, the default mat. is not suitable for this.:wavey:

Good advice.
Try scanning in some of those images and using imageplanes.

Thanks Xaint, I do plan to rework the head and the abdomen.

Hickory2.5 and JFrench I do have an Anatomy book from my collage classes on anatomy and physiology, I am failing to find the constructive criticism in your statement.

I found you work outstanding, and I'm curious what the two trolls could improve on that. Everybody can write things like: Go home, You Suck, etc... :shame:
One can always improve tho.

Sorry if you two wasn't flaming the artist, but it looked alike.

Xaint: I said no such thing

cgartist: I will elaborate further...your latest post looks as though you have a smaller man living inside of a bigger man. Sometimes using books is hard, so using 3D models that have already been made as a refrence can be a lot more help. I'll take the liberty to post a friend of mines work from Blur. This model was not made for them though. So here it is, hope it helps.
Next time don't jump on someone for critiques.

JFrench, thats a great model however its not what I consider a bodybuilder, Anatomically he looks great, but I am leaning towards a professional bodybuilders form.
I attached an example.

from what I could see, I'd suggest a slightly more 'cut' look to your character. I guess it comes down to the definition of the character your baseing your model on, but from the shows I've been to, even the amateurs are cut up big time - striated muscles, esp. around the shoulder/bicep/mid pec area. maybe you need to incorporate some 'sharper' modelling features in there?
