I've made some tests with realflow and built a mesh of about 500 000 polygons....which is water splashing against wood.....
and I'm for instance using vray.....
but often I've got real problems with rendering the scene.....for example, everything will work until I reach frame 30 and then, 3dsmax alerts me and tells me there's an error certainly caused by vray.....(and unhandled exception...)
a friend of mine told me that because it's a plugin, vray supports less polygons than mental ray for example.....
and the new mental ray shaders on max9 seem good and easier to dial with than the previous versions....but max9 is full of bugs.....
so:
have you ever had some errors especially with realflow and vray?
should I go and use mental ray instead of vray?
and when is the service pack for max 9 going to be released?
so as a conclusion....if you were me.....what would you guys do?
thanks a lot

and what about the triangles?
when I render with vray, my water has plenty of little triangles in it...when I render with scanline or mental ray, there are no triangles......any idea?
