I have designed two variant illuminated shop signs .

The hemisphere is attached to the wall and the sign part sticks out over the pavement.

Edit: Don't ask me what fonts I used as splines to create the text, I have no idea. The upper sign was created 13/4/2000 and the lower 3/5/2000

In both cases above the text within the squashed sphere is the only source of light.

I already have the both objects in .c4d format

There seems to be no way to scale the light source in only one axis as an Omni (in this case along the Y axis) to fit the shape of the squashed sphere.

I have also tried making the light source a Tube but this did not work either.

Can anyone suggest a way to create this effect.

If you want the text to be the source of light then you use an area light and under it's details tab you set it to use an object and drag the text object into the provided slot (as explained in the other thread). If you just want a squashed omni light all you do is scale it on whatever axis you require, you can do this in it's coord. tab or by using the scale tool and the "Object Tool". However this is not typically a natural effect.
