Anyone here planning on taking the Master Classes at Game Developers Conference. I have signed up for 5 of them. Just wondering if anyone has been to them before, and what I should expect.

I'll be going this year. Finally working for a company that will spring for stuff like this.

You should expect the classes to be somewhat hit and miss. It is very difficult to put on classes like this that completely satisfy the broad ranges of expectation. What you get out of it is going to depend on your current level of knowledge and the amount of time the speakers have been given to prepare.

I go to these expecting that 80% of what I'm going to see and hear isn't going to be new or interesting, but that other 20% might be information that is very difficult to come by and well worth the investment.

I think if you signed up before the 21st they were $100 a class. After that they went up to like $125 a class. You could also buy bundles of like 5 classes for $400.

Would love to go to something like this.

Can freelance artists attend?

Also where is the GDC held?

The Game Developers Conferance is in San Jose from March 4th-8th. The Maya Master Classes are being held on March 2nd and 3rd. I think anyone can attend as long as you sign up.
