Hi all. I just wanted to post this for crit before I call it final, so I can make any last needed changes that I can't see yet.

This painting was the first thing I did with Photoshop 7 when I got it, and is essentially a test of all those new brushes (you'll recognize the grass and leaves). I didn't make the moon, of course. For that, I prefer the real thing. :)

Then, this here is a fire version that I did one night when there was a MASSIVE California brush fire that was threatening to burn down my city. Firefighters were flown in from all over the country, but my city was left undefended because they were stretched so thin across California, so I just sat and painted this while waiting to see if the fire would destroy my house.

Thankfully, it didn't reach, but it could be seen covering the skyline.

*Bump*

This must be a CRAZILY trafficked forum for this to be on page 3 already with no more than 10 views.

Its usually not a great idea to put your focal point smack dab in the center of your painting. I would crop it differently. The second one with the fire tells more of a story. Perhaps you could put in some element that explains where the fire came from or where else in this landscape it is affecting things. Right now its pretty obvious that you just followed some tutorial on how to use photoshop. Its really not that interesting; however one thing i did notice is that when juxtaposed with one another the two images are really quite beautiful.

Thanks for the crit. :) I agree with almost all points... except the one about being obvious that I was just following a tutorial on how to use Photoshop. I've been using Photoshop for artistic purposes on a semi-daily basis for years (working on video-games and misc), and made this as a legitimate piece while familiarizing myself with PS7's new features. No tutorials or shake-n-bake formula here. This image went through about 3 revisions before it ended up looking like the blue pic you see here.
