Hello,

first DPIT Nature Spirit V4 informations have been released on www.dpit2.de (http://www.dpit2.de/)!
The demo and full version will be available tonight.

Customers who have preordered will be contacted tommorrow and will receive their serial numbers and all necessary information during the day.

We encourage all DPIT Nature Spirit users to help us on making DPIT better. We will set up a bug tracking list, so customers can report any bugs they encounter and also look up if the bug has already been officially confirmed or not.

I would like to personally thank all customers for their huge patience!

Thank you
All the best
Samir

Your plugin looks interesting when judging the examples.
As for bug tracking, have a look at the sky02.mov from the physical sky examples. No way a 'physical correct' sun can generate those shadows (almost 270 degrees).

Good luck with the release.

Itīs the sky and atmosphere that is physical based, not the shadows. These are simply Cinema4D shadows. Donīt make life harder than it is for the user. ;)

{Unless I am mistaken, the sun makes a maximum 180 degrees angle (east rise, west set in our case). From this movie it seems to make a 270 degrees rotation judged from the shadows (I meant).}

Sorry, you are correct. It looked weird at first...

Nevertheless the examples look great. Especially the fluid stuff.

Katachi

In the general case you are right, itīs about 180 degree, but this also depends on the location on earth. On the north pole you have 6 months of sun...calculate the angle ;-)

The default of the sky engine does the 180 degrees though. the example may have been on a different location, settings wise. As the text says...itīs customizable. (for example you can raise or lower the horizon...):)

thanks for the head ups!

Hi Samir,

i've been looking at the fluids simulations of dpit and they seem to simulate gas and fire quite (as in very ';) nice. I'm looking for a solution to create a waterfall though. I can't find any info on your pages whether dpit could do water. Could you shed some light on this? As it looks reel flow is too expensive at the moment and rendertimes with particles and metaballs are through the roof..

thanks

Hi Coen,

sorry, DPIT cannot simulate water with the fluids (yet...). However, I would like to redirect you to Remotions water fluids solution which could do the job. You find the website of Remotion here: www.remotion.de.vu (http://www.remotion.de.vu)

Hope that helps :)

Got Xfrog too, does DPit replace it all together or are there still stuff xfrog does better when it comes to plants?
Iīll think I buy DPit anyhow since samir have the nice sidegrade price.

XFrog has a larger library. But Spit has cool shader coming with it. I am not sure if I would compare both products on a 1:1 basis. All I can say is that I get better results with DPit and the DPit support is better compared to the XFrog suppot which has ignored the past 5 eail I send within the last week because of serious viewport problems I have to XFrog.

Which "day" is he referring to? Sunday? I didn't get an email on Sunday.

Then again, when he wrote that it was Monday in Germany, right? So then Monday is going to be a good day? Is that what he means?

jep, will do! :)

Ah, and here is one of the example files Iīll post. The smoke could be a little slower but I like it.

The ash in the tray is placed with the MultiToolBrush and Transplant. :)

The complete rendertime including simulation calculation took 2:30 hours. The second and third movies took only 13 minutes each, because they use the smoke cache of the first movie. I only tweaked the shader slightly for the rerenders.

Hi Samir

I have bought the plugin through Paypal and still haven't received serials yet. No doubt you are busy but usually these kind of things are automated and I get a response almost instantly. No problem as it's not urgent. Just would like to get started playing with it.

Hi Rich,

sorry, I havenīt even sent out the preorders completely yet. However, I will definetly be finished with all today. So you will also get your registration information today.

you should have however received the paypal confirmation mail did you?

It takes a little longer because I also need to make support beside this, create example scenes, update the website, create video tutorials, fix existing bugs...
Just takes its time :/

Will hurry up so you guys get your registration data asap. (btw. you could of course grab the demo and use that one in between).

@all: As a side note, there is a bug on MAC (see bug tracking list) with the "Create Fluid Setup" comman. You must create a smoke shader once first before you can use this menu command. Just to let you guys know when you wanna start with the fluids. Already on it to fix that!

@Lemonnade: you should have got your serial by now ;-) Concerning the demo, you may have downloaded the demo shortly after release. There was a bug. It was still checking for past demo data and if you had a run on the 3.1 demo, it would find these information.

You shouldnīt have these problems with the one that online. I replaced it some hours after release.

@JoelD: Thanks! I knew that work and paper. :-) Very interesting and surely something I am looking at.

No way. I want the pink ones.

I did get my serials and have downloaded and am starting to get my head round DPIT 4. Where does the tree library go by the way?

Katachi
02-05-2007, 12:05 PM
The treelib has been used for the old NatureLibrary (it was something like the content manager of c4d but only for the tree lib). I removed the Nature Library however, it wasnīt usable anylonger but I didnīt wanted to take the tree library out so I kept it online for you. You simply load the .dpit files directly into c4d.

But it will disappear and be replaced for 4.1 because of...surprise :)

I am trying to create an aerosol effect for a deodorant and wanted to use pyroclusters steam with simple particles. Is this possible and if so how do I set it up?

regards

rich

Katachi
05-02-2007, 09:24 AM
Hi,

Pyrocluster unfortunately cannot see SimpleParticles and therefore is not renderable with it. But you have 2 other options to get to what you want:

1. You use SimpleParticles with the Fluids Engine. Then you have a realistic motion and you can use the participating media shader.

2. You use normal c4d particles driven by the fluids. This allows you to have realistic fluid air motion and still use any rendering technique like pyrocluster, StormTracer etc. with the c4d particles.

If you need more help on this it would probably be better if you post into the DPIT forums. :)

Katachi
05-02-2007, 01:55 PM
ok, had an hour to create an example. Here I simply used SimpleParticles to inject smoke into the fluid domain on their way. Is that similar to what you intented?

http://www.dpit2.de/galerie/temp/spray.mov

Find the scenefile for it here:

http://www.dpit2.de/galerie/temp/spray.zip

Rendering time was 50 minutes.

Nice render Samir! But when I try and load the c4d file... C4D comes up with an error message 'Not enough Memory' and stalls completely.
At the time of the load I used 400MB of 2GB free. Mem consumtion at the crash time is 578 steady. I have to shhot C4D with the Task Manager. It's just sitting there.
Strange... Any ideas?
I'm on a PC with XPPro V10 latest.

Katachi
05-02-2007, 03:13 PM
hmm, cannot think of anything. Does it generate a crash report? I have reuploaded the scene and lowered the grid size. Maybe it got corrupt during upload. Can you try again if it works now?

LemonNado

Crazy, first file ca in as 17MB file, now it's about 439KB and it is still corrupting C4D. I just load it and it stops responding. It does not crash. It just sits there doing nothing.
I will verify which version I have loaded. Not that there is a missmatch between the dpit versions. I just got a delivery.... be back in a few

Something must be wrong with your download. I asked my beta testers, it works for them on PC (works fine on my PC too XP Home & XP Prof), MAC PPC and IntelMAC. Itīs a 9.6 file, maybe thatīs the problem? But it loads fine for me in 9.6 and 10 latest too. Not sure what is the problem for you...hmmm strange

Here is a direct scene file version, maybe itīs the unzipping that makes problems for you.

Katachi
05-02-2007, 06:00 PM
If this also doesnīt work and still hangs, maybe itīs another plugin causing the hang? To verify, simply remove all the other plugins temporarily from your plugins folder and keep DPIT in there and then load the file. If it works then, you know itīs another plug causing this.

Otherwise I cannot think of anything else. Real strange.. :)

Hi Samir

that's absolutely perfect. Amazing thank you very much. It has exactly the right feel.

When you turn on the Fluid Sensei in the viewport why does it not look like the rendered version. It seems to be very different so do you simply look at the simple particles rather than the Fluid Sensei view to see the animation, and then test render to fine turn?

yep, exactly! The "problem" with SimpleParticles is that they do not inject the velocity/smoke/heat in world space (as the fluid slave emitters do) and therefore the simulation is not that scalable.
So for them, I simply check with a low grid in editor how the simulation will approximately look like and then do test renders with slightly higher grid sizes (this is fast and gives me already a good preview and feel of what it turns out to be). Of course you could also simply increase the grid size in the editor, then you donīt need to render at all, however I prefer the rendered result (and the renderer with mid-res settings is fast, so itīs not that much of a problem).

And a lot of times the slightly higher grid sizes with an according noise flow map (as I used here) are already very satisfying. :)

Ah, did I mention that I have completed the video manuals for the fluids simulation and rendering? They can be downloaded from the secret user area! :D

Glad I could help!
