Well, this is my newest painting in the search for a stronger understanding of light and shade. I based the drawing off of a picture I found on the internet. I'm feeling that it is done at this point, but if you notice something strange or unusual please let me know.

Awesome job, definitly photo-realistic. My only critique is when the skin meets the black backround it kind of ruins the illusion... i'm not sure why. I love the piece though.

wow, lovely job! i have to agree with Shaykai about the part where girl&background meet... its got a cutout effect that destroys the photorealism...

Thanks alot guys, I'm glad you like it. I'm not quite sure what will fix the blended area, but I will go back and try a couple things. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Beautiful work,

My only sugesstion is to make the contour of where the face meets the black background less blurry/more defined. The lighting/shadows are definetely believable and the overall piece kicks a$$ man!!!

Alright, I went back and added some skin texture to the portion of the face that was blurred into darkness. I tried sharpening the edge but it wasn't working for me. Instead I went and added a slightly more defined cheekbone.

Thanks for the help! It looks much nicer than it did before.

I just took a look at the images side by side with the lower resolution, and you can hardly tell the difference.

looks great, i can't really find anything much wrong with it. The skin is very natural and the shading is great.
