View Full Version : Character - Met'Al - Modeled In Rhino3D
Teyon 02-23-2003, 01:05 AM Hey gang. This (http://home.att.net/~cry_havoc/met_al4a.jpg) is my latest creation. Modeled in Rhinoceros 3D using a series of lofts, a pair of spheres and one sweep. I should mention that I don't like his ears (those circle things in the bakc of his head...should've been reptilian but looks like knobs). I just don't have time to go back and redo them so he's finished. Comment's and crits are welcome. :)
Leigh, Mario, or Travis if you see this, yeah I'm still using Rhino because LWDE's point count limit is kicking my butt. :D

Great model! I glad to see Rhino finally getting some recognition. People who say Rhino is only for modelling cars, eat your hearts out!

Thanks! Yeah, I love my little Rhino. :) It just won't animate for me though. :( So, LightWave's looking mighty fine to me now.
the front of his throat seems to come out a bit too far, unless it was supposed to be exagerated that way? Still very nice style, I must seek more of your work :)

Oooh... Maybe I stuck a little too closely to that old drawing of mine (it was from a sketch I did back in '92). My art has improved since then but my blind modeling hasn't. :) Okay note to self, fix the ears and bring the neck back in a bit. Thanks, Cyn.

Hey, Fakie, that makes me smile for sure :) Anytime I can broaden a persons view on anything make me happy! Actually, just between us and the rest of the world, I suck at making cars in Rhino. lol.

RAul, the mohawk was supposed ot have like little spiky bits and stuff to break up the flow but I couldn't do it in a way that made it look right. It's official now, the ears suck. :D
M-D-Freezer, he has 4 fingers because he's from an alien race that happens to have only four fingers. I just tried rendering it in the colors from the original sketch and all I can say is, "WHAT WAS I THINKING!?" Green skin, blue pants/top, red belt and orange hair. Sigh, I don't even have drug use as an excuse...just pure stupidity. Thank the gods I never tried to be a colorist. lol.
Thanks everyone for dropping in and sharing your thoughts.

Very "Mad Max". I like it. By the way...don't ever expect Rhino to have animation features. I was just talking to some techs from Rhino last week, and they said "No way....never "...to my questions on the matter. Good job.

Thanks gang. Yeah, I found out recently too that the animation stuff just wasn't going to come. At least not in house. Ah well, I'm going to probably buy LW anyway...
Thanks again.
Oh, and Seval, yeah, I've been a bit timid lately. Nice to see we've both popped in the same month though!

Wow, you did do this in Rhino? I was of the school that it was only good for vehicles. Thanks for proving me wrong! Good Job!:applause:

Thanks. Yup, 3days of model making due to my busted mouse/drawing hand. Can't wait 'til it heals. A tut? Well, perhaps a piece at a time? That shouldn't be too out of the question. :) Thanks again.
