Some imaginative stuff in here... what is the first picture of? Is it a painting, or a pencil drawing? Either way it's lovely, would love to see it a bit bigger! I really love the fingers on your goonie too, great definition of the knuckles, and the monster with the eye in its butt freaks me out.. o.O
Hey, great thread start :D
have you ben drawing since long? which artists do you admire?
Your imaginary stuff looks great, really looking forward to see more!

xvampire,
Welcome! :) Great to see your Sketchbook here, your reel is fantastic, and I was really impressed with the 3D realization of the 2D concept art in the beginning - and the cave creatures and fish just made me laugh, really impressive stuff, so congrats! :)
You have some strong 2D work as well here and it will be great to see how you develop it - I'd love to have your participation in our Workshops, which you can be notified about by subscribing here:

With respect to crits, the Goonie drawing is great - the only minor crit I might have is to suggest defining his left forearm a bit more. I'm curious to see you really refine a 2d digital painting from one of your sketches. It would also be nice to know a bit about your background as an artist.
Cheers, :)

Hi All, thank you!
I respect all the comments here
first, I think that I still need a lot of improvement, thats why Im here, CGtalk sketch book, I ve seen a lot of great sketches , so I wish I could learn from all you guys and girls.
I think my bg is so confusing ^^
I grew up with comics, games, and movies.
I started to read disney comics, then early DC/marvel comic,
after that I read manga/anime which is influence my illustration style a lot.
I almost want to be a comic artist that create story and graphics on my own, but I know thats still not really possible in my country.
at the same time I studied life drawing/photo drawing and fine art painting (non college), which is luckily still help me to achieve the realism/color ... sometimes I went to local traditional art gallery.
actually, I also started to love CG, at that time, and played a lot of games ..... so I tought that I already lost my interest to comics and paintings. and want to be a game/movie artist.
then I learn CG, and make my first CG, I tought that cg doesnt need traditional knowledge anymore as long as its look like in the movie and games, its already good. but I was wrong,
it always turn out like cg-ish lifeless artwork. then I realized that cg and fine-art must be together.
thats why I always keep drawing untill now.
which artist to admire? a lot!
random example : Akira Toriyama(DBZ) ,Herge(TinTin) , Derek Riggs (Illustrator of IronMaiden cover), Yoji Shinkawa (metal gear),
etc etc etc :p
Im so sorry I only have few images to post now, I ll get/scan some more if I have a time ...

xvampire,
Thanks for your talking about your background - I think you are absolutely right about the fine arts really informing one's 3D work - anangpg, Thomasphoenix, Intervain, and others are testaments to this. :)
Below I've linked some Sketchbooks that I think you will enjoy checking out - there are so many great Sketchbooks around and I encourage you to check out as many as you can - but since there are so many, here is a good place to start: :)

Also, we recently ran a Workshop on heads, I would encourage you to do Master Copies from the reference provided at the beginning of the Workshop thread:

I think all of your studies are solid, but I might suggest really working on injecting more boxy structure into some of them. Have you ever seen the books or DVDs of Glenn Vilppu (http://www.vilppustudio.com/)? He's a renowned figure drawing teacher for animators who really emphasizes structure above all else. I think that he's definitely worth checking out. :)

I love the control you have with line. Almost every line seems very deliberate and fully in control. I would push the darker values a bit more in your sketches, but that's about it.
Wongedan

darker value?
yea I think its a very good Idea,
and also the mid values mostly I am quite lazy to do it
I think its gonna be a good practice
thx

Hi Xvampire, you've got a good imagination. i like that stuff. The wolf skeleton looks really good too. You should construct animals more to make them look more natural. Perspective studies are essential to do that. Keep going!
