This started out as a random quick doodle of a landscape. I wanted to try it out after I saw some cool speedpaintings of landscapes at some webpage.

After doodling for a while I decided to make something more of it, and here is what came out of it.

A knight out on a long journey, watching the sunrise, far from his final destination.

Painted from scratch in Photoshop with a tablet. No reference used. Around 15 hours total spent.

I like the piece very much. There's really a good feel about it, and I like the sunrise concept.

I think that the shadows may be alittle too pronounced considering that the sun has not yet peaked over the horizon... In fact I think that this drawing would be greatly improved if there was just a tiny spec of pure white and a glow to show the sun actually rising.

This drawing is just before the good part ;)

I like it though :)
