View Full Version : VRay .rla or .rpf
ericlevy 02-22-2003, 09:58 PM how come vray free crashes when i render out .rla or .rpf with zdepth? are there any other ways to embed zdepth information into my files by rendering with vray free? i want to do Depth of Field in After Effects instead of rendering it with VRay...any other suggestions?

Oh boy.
I strongly suggest rendering the depth-channel into a seperate file using Render Elements (or whatever equivalent vRay comes with), because as far as I know .rpf doesn't anti-alias it's depthbuffer. Which makes it somewhat.. er.. useless?
You'll have to manually set the min and max values with the one built into MAXs "render elements" though. Not such a big deal though.
Oh, and if vRay is not equipped with proper element-rendering (I've never tried vRay) you can easily do a second pass where you swap back to the default scanline. Hooray.

Depth buffer shouldn't be antialiased !
