Hi!

I'm supposed to organise a team that's supposed to model a duel of knights. The whole thing's supposed to take months, but the people involved are relatively new to character animation, so any input from experienced animators would be useful.

Now I know this board is filled with experienced proffesionals and highly skilled amateurs, so I'll present you the challenge:

This is a list of challenges the director gave me:
- A character in chain mail
- A character in leather armor
- A warhorse (the first one's supposed to ride the warhorse at first)
- They're dueling
- In a forest-like environment

Now, I realize that all of this is pretty demmanding, but I've promised nevertheless to give him a list of the things I'll need for this, so - I'm looking for some advice:
- How would you people organise making this scene?

Now I've got a team of people with some experience in 3D Max and a bit of Maya, but this is waaay above anything they've done so far.

- How many people (doing part-time) at which positions do you think would it would take to do this by August?
- Does anyone know of a good way to animate Chainmail? It's supposed to be composed of hundreds of small rings, which will be seen in at least two shots
- Any advice on the surrounding nature? It involves tall grain and grass and lots of trees. I'm looking for some good tools for dynamics on this one
- What character animation program/plugin would work good for this? Now, most shots will be short, and there'll be some camera tricks too make the thing more dynamic, but regardless - this'll take some serious dedication to look good
- Any recommendations on the fur/hair? (I know several plugins that could do the trick, but I've been away from animation business for three years)

Thanks, peeps. :)
