View Full Version : Polygon Smooth Problem

I was going to smooth-subdivide a person model in Maya, but it did not smooth the whole object. It only added more faces to half of it, so it still looks unsmoothed. Does anyone know the problem to this?

Hmm theres two ways to smooth a poly, which is to select it in object mode and smooth it, or to go into component mode and select all the faces and smooth it. For me sometimes the first method does what it did for you and only smooths some of the poly, so if you haven't tried it yet, try selecting all the faces and smoothing them.

If that doesn't work you could also convert it to sub-d's, then back to polygons. Thats usually what I do with a character.

perhaps those were hard edged polys, so just flip off keep hard edges?

You might try deleting history on your object before trying to smooth it. Could just be smoothing one of the shape nodes in the history.
