View Full Version : Need Suggestions on Model to Animate
mysrh 01-26-2007, 02:23 AM I have this claw model for crab animation. WOndering if the model is animatable at all or if there is anything I can improve. Eventhough the inside part (the joint of the claw) won't be shown, I want to make it as clean as possible.
Thanks!

Well my first sugestion before modeling is taking as much reference from the real world u can , don't just start modeling before a bit of research in the end it can save u time and coffee,
second have a look on how a real crab claw operates, my sugestions would be making the lower claw independente from the upper claw, in reallity they not really one piece,
third sometimes get your hands dirty if u live by the beach u would have lot of reference grab a couple of dead crabs to study topology trace the wireframe on it with a marker play if them a little.
well my point is u need reference, I rig characters for a long time and rigging really starts on modeling, also concentrate on having a clean topology with heaps of edge loops, loops are easier to deal with on the modeling and rigging stage of a creature.
hope it helped
