I'm still learning and get some of the tools down in Photoshop, but I'm actually coming preaty far:

What's the best way to learn how to make skins and GUI's? I'd like to get to something like this:

Easier said then done I know but if it's basics that I'm missing, where are other places I could start? Really looking for that nice Photorealistic effect with the pic I'm working on up top.

What's the best way to learn how to make skins and GUI's?

By the one thing that always seems to do the trick; practice. What also really helps is to look every day at some galleries with skins, not to copy the ideas of others, but to get inspiration for your own designs. Don't look for skin tutorials; you can't teach people how to be creative.
