what do you think of the program? is it worth getting? i mean, the one that you build your own trees, not the tree libraries. i think it looks great, but i need some first-hand accounts before i look into getting it.

thanks all!

well i have this app, and to tell you the truth i wish i had saved my $$. it is really not like any other modeler i have used.... not very intuitive. the objects are VERY dense and the objects are several unconnected layers, so no sub-d... the trees realism fall apart close up.

i saw a plugin for free that works with lw it makes much faster more easily tweaked models and best of all it is free! try looking around this forum last few pages and you will find it. the free plugin easily does abetter job than x-frog within LW.

I'm having a problem getting TreeCage to work with 7.5

I keep getting an error message that says
"line 1196 invalid object method write In[]"

Anyone know what that means and how I can fix it?

I got it to work. I had added it to my plug in list in the Modeler menu and was getting that error when I selected it from the additional menu. However when I go to the LScript tab and load it from the LScript/RT option, it works fine. It must have something to do with the .lsc extension instead of a .ls extension.

I was actually looking for a good way to make threes to put in a castle scene I was planning. This helps a lot. :D

Stay away from X-Frog.
Very inefficient.
I downloaded a sample tree last year and it was like 5mb.
It didnt even look that great.
If youre going to spend money go to http://www.polas.net/ and buy this guys stuff.
There really no comparing the two.
Plus Tree Designer has UVs and weight maps.
Very awesome stuff.
He has a few samples included but its so easy to do some great trees really fast.

Get it!

I used to play with X-frog a lot actually. --- In fact.. I made the splash screen render that is used when the program launches... (not the text... just the render)... You can see some of my work with it here:
Linky to Xfrog Gallery (http://www.opnotic.com/site.html)
The developers are pretty cool too. :) Hmm not just cause they used my image as a splash screen either.. I think the concept of the program is great... and you really can get some organic flavor in your geometry... and obviously as that page would show... you don't "need" to make trees with it. For example... I imagine you could make a very complex and ornate shandelier with it if you were so inclined.
