View Full Version : Can I save Irradiance map in Vray?
Animals 01-24-2007, 10:37 PM Hello peoble!
i am a very new newbie at vray so, I have to know this:
I wonder if I can save some kind of map or IM so the it renders fast..you know like when you save a photon map in mental ray?
otherwise i have to wait for prepass 1 and 2 and then render.
Thanx for help

sure it can :)
VRay Manual ONLINE:
http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R1/render_params_advancedimap.htm
for the calculation simply check:
- "Donīt render final image" in the global switches
- depending on what youīre animating set the "Every Nth Frame" to something between 5-15
- set the irridiance map mode to "incremental add to current map" and save it to a file
- set "on render end" to autosave
thatīs basicly all...youīll get a worning that you are up to render a sequence without saving a file output but thatīs okay. you donīt wanna have jpegs or something...you only want to save the irri-map :)
kind regards

raytrace materials together with VRay is kinda NoGo :(
use a vray material with a bright reflection color. maybe use the EGZ materials: http://www.vray.info/materialbeta.asp they include a carpaint shader...
have a look at VRay-Materials.de as well: http://www.vray-materials.de/all_materials.php
there you gonna find tire rubber as well e.g.
read the VRay manual i posted above: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R1/ if you wanna use VRay for future productions that should be your bible as well as: http://www.vrayelite.com/
there are tons of tutorials around concerning carpaint and vray in particular.
kind regards

I did exactly like you said but it didnt work ..( by the way im doin moving object animation.)
- the prepassing 1 and 2 is still coming
- it renders the same frame whole the time (for 83 frames) thoug I animated the object and set range from 0 to 83?
thank you for help
