View Full Version : Object : Banjo
Hi everybody !
It's been a long time.
Couldn't sleep that night so I did something I wanted to do... yeah, a banjo (don't ask why :) ).
Wanted to do something realistic, so I shearched for some references on
the net, and found some bad pictures, but managed to do that anyway, hope you like it.
Done with Max 5, rendered with Brazil.

( I was surprised to see that there were no banjos on cgtalk  )

Good job, but i thought banjos had a 5th string that only goes up about halfway? I'll try and find a pic of a banjo real fast....
ok here we go
http://americanhistory.si.edu/notkid/images/banjo.gif
kinda small but as you can see there is a fifth string that goes up halfway. of course there might be 4 stringed banjos just like there are 7 string guitars and 6 string bass. I dunno. Anyway, just thought i'd point that out.
Other then that small critique i love it!
shayjai : Thx for the comment, in fact there are 4 string banjos
Here (http://www.johnnykeenan.com/images/banjo%20copy.jpg)
any ideas or suggestions to make it more photorealistic ?
well, ok, nobody likes banjos. I know, they might be boing.
I'll make an electric guitar next time :buttrock: :p

Nice banjo !
I also agree the lighting could you a bit of warming.
A good site for banjo info including 5 string is here
http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Musician/Banjo/5stAnatomy/5stanatomy1.html
I would like to see you dirty up the drum a bit to show it is used and maybe engrave the tailpiece to make it more of a special banjo.
Thx for the comments, guys.
I've worked more on that lightning, to place it on a more sunny-tranquility- mood. I also dirtened (?) a bit the drum. And added a inscription to the tail. (updated the pic)
Here's the old picture : here (http://kureks.free.fr/divers/ban03.jpg)
Zukum : good banjo site there :)
and some details renders :
