Hi all.

LOL I havn't been here for ages. I feel like my entry here is a bit rusty lol.
So hi for old lads, and welcome for new cgtalkers.
Here is a small enviro I'm working on atm, textures are around 1024x1024 multiple. Wires, polycount and else I'll post after finishing. And here are normals, not bumps.

Its looking pretty good though there are a few areas that need some work. The textures for example are feeling very duo tone in that there is very little variation in color and wear on most of the building and props around it. It seems odd that the building would be such a nice white, and that the car door is a solid yellow. Think about the surfaces too, as many of them all feel the same. What separates stucco from metal? As well, the textures looked weathered, however there are no visible cracks or sign of aging. As well, you can re-enforce the age of some of the objects by adding some damage to the geometry, as everything now is at nice 90 degree angles.

Good luck!

I'm really liking the gas pumps. That well seems really out of place, I can't imagine seeing that in the same scene as the gas station. I agree with Gamedev, the walls really need something to spice them up, it's looking too generic right now. It seems half-way between concrete and stucco. You have to pick what material an object is and keep pushing for that the whole way. Ask yourself questions like: is the red painted on? Would some of the paint flake off, leaving the original material showing through? Would some of the stucco chip off, leaving some plaster showing? Maybe some water leaks through the awning and leaves some big water stains. There should definitely be some stains below the gutters.

There's a lot of potential though. Will you be making a full scene out of this?

Thx for comments guys, I'll use them for sure in some way.
The scene won't be bigger then the ground-circle.

Here is another small update :

The new version looks better. Nice work.
I'm confused what those 2 checkerboarded objects are... why are they STILL looking like that even in your updated version? I'm confused or missing something.

I'm confused what those 2 checkerboarded objects are...

I'm thinking those are objects that are unwrapped and awaiting some texture work.

The new update is looking good. Some nice lighting now can really help it stand out. We are still seeing the same 'tones' across the whole scene, giving it an unlit look. Think about adding some lights - maybe desert themed. A light up front w/ maybe a orange / yellow tone and them some lighting in the back w/ some blues to show shadow would be nice. Just a thought!

Maybe also think about breaking up the wall surface with some large cracks, primered and re-painted areas, maybe even a business logo / name?

Keep working on it!

hi Por@szek

Nice gas station will you add a truck? this piece looks like it would belong in a pre render game.
