View Full Version : convertInstanceToReal hwoto?

Hi everyone!
I've created a lot of particles and I've used a polygon plane to create a lot of Instances placed on particles. I need to convert the instance node into geometry planes in the way that I can export them.
I'm using Maya8.0 and I've download the 8.0 bonus tool, but the command doesn't in the menu; so I've found the .mel file into the bonus tool folder; I've run it but it seems no work.

I've selected the instance node and run " convertInstanceToReal;" but the Instance desappears.

How does it work?

hey ossosso,

I may be wrong here but that bonus tool isn't for converting particle instances. It's meant to turn instanced duplicates (made with the instance option under duplicate) into their own individual shape nodes.

There is a plug-in I saw just recently on highend3D.com. I haven't tried it out yet but I thought I'd point you in its direction. Its called Uninstancer and is specifically for what you are asking:
