View Full Version : Using Atmospheric helpers in particle systems
Eudaimic 02-21-2003, 09:47 PM Hey,
I'm trying to create a smoketrail using Dust Devil (from Blur), but really it doesn't matter which atmospheric effect I'm using.
I can't get any of the particle systems to use helpers as instanced geometry :( Is there any other way to go about it? Perhaps a third party particle system?

Howdy !
why not using a standard particle system (like a Spray - set them "facing") and add it procedural maps based on Particle Age map ?
if you plan on creating a smoke trail that would work pretty well, attach it to an object moving and particles will follow and so on....

I'm just afraid that the intersection of the 2D maps with any architecture (my planes), will look crap.
Anyhow, I solved it yesterday night. It took me a lot of other tries, but I finally found a 'Particle Combustion' plugin :D
Problem solved (see the current test results in the link in my signature)
