View Full Version : architect interior
Claudio72 02-21-2003, 08:39 PM I'm looking this pic and I'm making some test on something similar but radiosity make me cry!!
http://www.finalrender.com/products/link.asp?TID=:GI-Sample&LID=http://www.cebas.de/products/images/finalrender/gallery/the_room_web_o.jpg
It seems I've to disable the GI(receive) in every material or all is too bright.
Do you have some suggestions for this kind of work??
Do you know if I can find such kind of interior model to buy(shaders included btw)?
I will post a wip of my env when the rendering is done!!
thank's in advance

1) show us the wireframe from the top with lights and so on
2) show us your GI settings and the disposition of stochastic samples after prepass
looking good but improvable ;)

Ok your GI settings are a bit... wrong :p Accuracy: leave it 70% now. Prepass size: too low, it should be at least 1/2 imo. Diffuse depth: it could be ok. Stochastic samples: 30 is ridicolous, 100 at least for a good pic. The worst parameter you have is min-max resolution. Min res should be at least 1/10 the Max res. For example 3-30, or 3-20, don't leave too much "distance" between min and max because 1) rendertime will increase dramatically 2) you won't have an optimal quality. I'll tell you my usual settings, they're nice for every kind of pic more or less. accuracy 50-95% (it's the only parameter i regulate). Diffuse depth: 3 for objects in an open environment, higher for a closed environment like a room with only a window, a sunlight and a sky. Stochastic samples 115. Min-max resolution 3-20. I hope it helps :wavey:

it surely help.
Could you explain the max and min resolution variable? what does they manage?

I think i should write a tutorial when i find the time... ;) Basically min and max resolution regulate the amount of photons in different kind of areas.
Let's suppose we have a cubic room with a window. One or more light sources outside the room and perhaps even a sky object emitting light. Light enters the room from the window and bounces as many times (diffuse depth parameter) you want in the room. In real life the bounces are infinite, so i leave this parameter usually very high for interiors scene (7,10, even 20). It will influence both color bleeding (you can tweak it with the saturation parameter in the material settings - illumination) and illumination strenght (you can tweak it with both the Strenght parameter in the render settings - radiosity and the Generate-Receive setting in the material settings - illumination). Min and Max res are the settings that let you distribute the light photons. In the prepass phase you'll see many dots in your pic. Min and Max res settings regulate how these dots will distribute in the scene. Min res regulates the distribution in wide flat areas (ie a floor of a room). Max res regulates the distribution in corners and "difficult" areas. Min res should be at least 1/10 the Max res. Stochastic samples parameter regulates the number of samples emitted by each dot you see in prepass size.
This is an ideal process as suggested by Cebas finalRender official tutorials (don't forget that C4D gi code is the "father" of finalRender gi code): keep low every setting (expecially the stochastic samples setting) and launch a prepass render, observ the scene and stochastic samples disposition, expecially in "difficult areas" like corners. Increase the max res parameter until you see a good amount of samples in corner areas. Regulate the min res parameter using the rule of 1/10. Now increase the accuracy too. Increase the number of stochastic samples till you don't see splotches anymore. Use the diffuse depth parameter to regulate the number of bounces (this is the 1st thing to do if your image is dark) and the general contrast of the image. If your image is still dark increase the light sources strength and/or the Generate setting of your material and the Strength setting in the radiosity panel. I hope it makes sense. :wavey:

Personally i'd change the marble texture, it's not so belieavable, and i'd increase the bump of the floor :wavey:

Here's a 3 minutes test (3 minutes to model, map, lighten and setup everything) using my method, 13 minutes rendertime (high rendertime because of the area shadows) :wavey:

as usual your test are ****in' nice third_
But........try to change this one...........and remember.........I can pay for your work, I think people works hard for something has to be payied in some occasions!!
My thread start with this sentence:
"Do you know if I can find such kind of interior model to buy(shaders included btw)?"
the c4d file is coming next.........

I'd help you but now i only have a demo version of C4D and the demos, you know, are not for commercial use. Plus i have a couple exams at university so i don't really have the time to do anything :hmm: By the way if you need suggestions for your projects i'll be glad to help you, this forum is here for this reason :)

Third_, never tried to give cinema 4D live course in Italy?

:wavey:

I support Inter football club, not Rome :D btw i've known a couple of C4D wannabe teachers here in Italy... Their level wasn't the best indeed, they asked advices to me. Thank you for telling me i'm the number 1 C4D user in Italy, but there are other good users like Gianluca Mattia (he writes also some tutorials for 3D professional), have a look at his homepage studioideabari.it, his nickname here at cgtalk is gianluca. The C4D lessons would be interesting indeed, but i don't know anything about Character Animation, i have to learn it; modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering are my best areas. I wait for C4Dzone.com to live again, i knew they searched for C4D teachers, we will see... :wavey:

Io provo a vedere cosa riesco a organizzare.
english:
My favorite football team is Inter too, I consider myself a big supporter!!
I think you've not to wait for c4dzone.com, actually the animation should be a separated course, and you can affort either basic and advanced courses.
About me, I would like to know what I'm able to organize to give courses. Now don't think I'm a sucker because of that, I know I'm not a real expert but I think I've decend c4d knowledges.
cheers

I've tons of interesting texture(5.5 Mpix) I've taken with my camera in the last months.........I will share it soon.
It's a pity you've to remove that texture!!
