View Full Version : video card
Meteoro 01-23-2007, 02:55 AM Hey guys!
Looks like my video card dead today and I have to buy a new one.
I have a PC with AGP. So, to Cinema 4D 10 PC users which card do you recommend that works good with e-ogl?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Having AGP instead of PCI-E will limit your choices a bit, just as it did mine... I got a card based on the GeForce 6600 GT with 128 MB, which works perfectly fine with the e-ogl features and has decent performance. I'm pretty sure I've seen better/newer cards supporting AGP too, but the 6600GT has a very good price-performance ratio.
EDIT: Btw, you might want to watch out for the GPU fan quality... The fan on mine actually gave up after about 9 months of use, so it might be a good idea to plan ahead and buy one of those behemoth Zalman fans while you're at it. Not only do they operate more reliably, but they are also more efficient, which allows for some extra headroom for overclocking without worrying about overheating.

I used to have the BFG 7800gs AGP and I really recomend it to anyone that is still using AGP
I worked on cinema4d for a few months and it was just great card.
Back than it was pretty expensive but I dont know how much now.

For best price / performance on AGP it has to be 7600gt, failing that 7600gs.

Yes, you can beleive it? The same happen to me, Its a little weird that something so expensive as a video card depends on a little fan to stay alive, and if the fan stop working you end with a expensive piece of junk.
Oh, and a PC today is really noisy, I have 2 fans for power source, 2 more for the case and 1 for the video card. I would take a look to silents fans or something because every time I turn off the PC rigth now you can hear me say aaaAAAAHHHHH!.
