View Full Version : MAX video cards
lragno 02-21-2003, 07:25 PM I have a quick question regarding video cards in respect to MAX. How vital is it to go with 128 meg vs. 64?
Is the only noticeable difference in scene complexity?
thanks all.......

Not vital. Other things (Which GPU it is in the first place? Does it have working max drivers?) are more vital.

The processor on the graphic card (Graphic Processing Unit I recon).
Like, Geforce4 Ti uses a different processor from Geforce4 MX and (hopefully) from Quadro4. While Radeon 9500 and 9700 (apparently) use the same processor as FireGL X1 and Z1, and the only difference is the professional drivers, which are also very important.
Good question to ask on the local hardware board. If you have specific cards in mind it's better to ask directly.

Want a good video card not only for max but for many other appz, get the Ati radeon 9700 pro 128mb, it also can be turned into a fire gl x1, very good video card.

If you consider the "can be turned into" aspect of it, Geforce Ti may be even better. In both cases the problem is that you will be left at the mercy of Unwinder as far as support goes. He's not known for his customer support skills.
