Title: Navy Littoral Communications
Name: David Coalter
Country: USA
Software: 3ds max, After Effects, Brazil r/s, mental ray, Photoshop, Vue

Here are some stills from a Navy Littoral Communications animation that will be shown at the AFCEA West conference later this month. It basically depicts how the US Navy will operate in the future. Fast littoral boats deploy ahead of the strike group deploying their own unmanned sensor platforms. This platforms characterize mines, enemy subs, and surface ships prior to the strike groups arrival. The animation shows a scenerio unfold from two perspectives (the combat information center control screen on the carrier and also in the strait where all the action takes place).

All animation was done in 3d Studio Max. The majority of the shots were rendered using Brazil R/S (a few with mental ray). Dreamscape was used for the sea surface and wake effects and compositing was done in After Effects. Vue 6 was used for a few shots that involved passing through cloud layers. Total length is 10 minutes. I'll post a link on the animation forum when it's put on the Harris Corporation external site.
