It will be if you use a resolution meant for 4:3. But there should be little room for error, because all LCDs have a native resolution. Just think of it as a resolution a given LCD was made to work with, and things will always look best when using that. So, check your LCDs native res, and use that as your windows resolution. Nothing should be distorted.
Take care.

If your video card supports 16:9 resolutions, you will be able to have an undistorted view. Geforce 6 series cards should support wide resolutions. I have run a 24" Widscreen off of my Geforce 6800GT before without issue.

Simple: It will work. Circles will still be circles, squares will still be squares.

That monitor's native resolution is 1680 x 1050. Just set your windows resolution to that and you shouldn't have a problem.

i had been play with my machine for a long time. i found that the resolution can only reach 1024*768. with my 6600 256m and 5900xt.

is there anything i am missing?

Yes. Windows only shows resolutions that the monitor can reach. If your monitor only goes up to 1024x768, you wont see resolutions above that.

Both those cards are capable of much higher resolutions, and wide screen ratios.

You'll be fine. I've run a 24" 16:10 monitor on much less than the video card you have.

Of course, this was on a 10 year old sgi monitor way before nVidia GeForce 6 series were even thought of.

If that's the monitor you want, you'll be fine.
