View Full Version : Maxon Tutorials Gone?
Joseppi 01-21-2007, 04:02 PM Someone asked about modelling a a soccer ball, and I looked at Maxon.net for the collection of tutorials for C4D 6-10, and can't find them. (There was a modelling tute of a soccer ball I recall.) It seems there are some "cineversity" free taining videos, and paid training, but the old html pages, and sample files are now gone.
Maybe the files are still there but the links lost in the website redesign Maxon did a while back... Did Maxon drop the sample files/techniques section they had? The ones grouped by topic (modelling, animation, etc.) that often had a downloadable example file...

They are gone. I had the old links but they now link to Cineversity.
Is there a specific tutorial or file you were looking for. I have archived most of them.
Cheers, Alan.

yeah looks like its now an outside search for Cineversity. I think this must have to do with the fact that there are a few chaps converting all the old tutorials into Cineversity video tutorials. Didn't know they'd take the old versions down though.

Thanks for the offer Alan! I had gotten (over the years) most of the files I was interested in, I was going to post the link for another C4D user and found they were moved/gone.
The training videos are nice, but sometimes it's quicker and better to study an actual file than sit through a step-by-step. As a resource, I'll miss the older files.
Thanks to all for confirming, thought theymight have moved them....

I agree kinda weird to take them down entirely, sucks even more for the german site as the videos are currently still all in english so they've lost and haven't necessarily gained anythign back (unless one can speak english.
As for the files, and cinversity Project type tutorial has files with it, its a big button in the info window, heres the new shadow catcher tutorial files are on the left side, includes starting files and final files. http://www.cineversity.com/tutorials/lesson.asp?tid=655

I got an email from Odo with a link to the old html files, still on Maxon....

The format of the index is different, but these are the same pages I believe. These are still useful if reading a page is at times quicker than watching a video....

especially if you are not online, the page tuts could be saved, the vid's cannot.
They both have their drawbacks. Video tutorials give you a visual of what you're doing and it also let's you see exactly where something is and how it can be located. Text tutorials are great for a refrence if you're in a hurry... They can also be saved to the hard drive. Maybe one day we can have a format that can be shown on the internet as a video, shown as regular text, or downloaded to the hard drive as text or video form :P Now that would be neat. lol.

Eric,
My apologies! Yes, you had it already! Sorry about that. I was checking between two forums at the time, and in the various web addresses in my search maxon.net, com, cineversity, etc. I overlooked your link... doh!
I've bookmarked it now! Thanks again, and please pardon my gaffe!
: )

PS: Those are some cool items you're working on there. I was down at Wright-Pat a few years in a row... Great flight museum on base...
