Hello,

I'm rather new to drawing, painting and the whole process of making up a complete 2d image, as my main field is 3d modeling. Anyway i have posted here some of my sketch and line art concepts of an idea i had today.

The end result I want is a light, sort of humourous picture... not crazy funny but i dunno... easy to look at?... nothing too deep and meaningful.

Initial Concept sketch:

This is my first sketch of the idea on paper.

Landscape Line Art:

I scanned my sketch into photoshop and then cleaned it up a bit and re-drew it with those easy to see blue lines. (Gotta love blue lines!)

Concept 1:

A very quick rough concept of our road side bandit. On the right is his possesions, they are a little bit out of scale but it will give you guys an idea on the direction i want to take.

Concept 2:

Again, a very quick and rough concept... this time with our bandit siting on his chair reading a book waiting for the next unsuspecting travel to come along.

I will most likey go with concept 2, but what do you guys/girls think?

Also I am aiming this towards a night time painting... and using the bandits lamp to highlight the focal point elements in the foreground (moonlight to highligh the background).

Well, sorry about such a messy post as i'm a bit rushed at the moment but any crits or comments are welcome. Also I am currently working on this at a size of 6383X5100 @ 600 dpi (in photoshop)... what are the standard size you guys work on you paintings at and is 600 dpi necessary?

Hope you guys can bare with me though this, as this is all new to me...

Thanks

ZaneV
