View Full Version : How to render splines...?
Marcog78 02-21-2003, 09:18 AM Hi! I'm new in this forum and my name is Marco.
I have read for days your interesting messages and now i'll ask you the first thing...:)
Computer graphics is only an hobby for me, so i am not an expert and don't have much time to spend with it...
I have used Rhino for modelling and Cinema for rendering, but now I want to work entirely in Cinema 4D R8, which i think is the greatest 3D program for everyone! I am doing many tests now in cinema to build my first car (i have created 2 cars in rhino) in cinema 4D...
Is there a method to render splines in Cinema 4D as in 3D Studio max? It would be great! I have tried but i didn't succeded...
Thanks and excuse for my bad english :)

in english:
Hi marco, I don't understand what you mean with "rendering a spline". I don't know max.
Are you sure wireframe render is not the answer?

I missed spline rendering too, it is a great way to make wires with very little effort.
You can render splines using Splines Pro I can't remember where to get it though, I'm sure someone else will be able to give you a link. :)
Sorry, for not being much help. :hmm:

Hi,
You could try sweeping the spline with a circle spline that has a low radius and give it a luminous material so it stands out better but it may not give the effect you're after.
You could also try the solid splines plugin but the free version made C4D unstable and was changed to a pay version if I remember rightly.
You could try doing a search for the free version but I don't know if you'll find it. If not I may have it sitting on my computer somewhere if you want to give it a go say and I'll try to find it, but it may not work properly.

Hi! Thanks for your replies! i'll try to search for the plugins you suggested me! :)
It would be a good think to do it...
For Claudio 72: forse mi spiego meglio in italiano.

the original solid-splines plug is from:
http://www.bookwoodarts.de/pe/index.htm
but i t seems like it doesnt work with c4d r8.

Solid splines pro works (for me anyway) I haven't tried the free version.

Forget what I said before, I've just found out SSPro onlt renders the default colour even when you apply a material to it.
