Super, I really love the Da Vince, ocean and WWII clips!
I feel the Anubis characters could use another go at the animation, but that's propably not your department anyway. :)
Where are the ocean clips from, Stargate?
Cheers,
- Jonas
That's some nice shots you got to work on and I can see what you mean by busy. Very nice ocean stuff. I was also impressed by how the fairly low poly geometry of the church ended up looking that real, care to talk about the process?
This is also the second time I've seen the title Technical Director on a reel here. It's the vaguest title I've ever come across, TD of what? Lighting? Shaders? :)

Amazing reel, I loved the shot of the Bf 109's peeling away.

Thanks guys, glad you like it.
Wiro, I left it as Technical Director without a specific designator as I tend to fill a lot of roles, often as lead vfx on a show. In quite a few shots on my reel, I modeled the object, did all texture work, developed the shaders, did the lighting, animated (camera and vehicles, I dont do character animation), served as the shots technical director, then rendered all passes and composited the shot myself. So its hard to put a specific title before technical director.

very nice work! but your real desperately needs a breakdown.
I see this all too often with td reels, yes i understand the position in itself but you should outline what you did in each shot otherwise its just not fair to everyone else who had their hand in those shots now is it.
Once again superb shots, the ocean one is my fav.

love the St Sulpice reconstruction - really cannot tell it's a fake ;) when watching the movie :applause:
Great reel - I would love to see more breakdowns, like Heber suggested, still 5 stars from me! Front page worthy...

thanks again guys,
Heber, I have no intent of making claim to what is not mine, and while I agree in principle, I'm not applying for a job, I'm simply sharing some of my work. I've been fortunate to work with some amazing artists on some great projects. Obviously I'm not responsible for every aspect of every shot, with the exception of the wwII shots as they were a personal project. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you had.

that was a well composed reel.
A shot breakdown is unneccesary.
I imagine that releasing one for visuals an artist worked on, but doesn't own - on a public forum is just asking for trouble, no matter how honest or well intentioned one might be.
Lets leave it to the employers to worry about.
Thanks guys, glad you like it.

I see, I guess I'm used to seeing the term Digital, CG or VFX artist (or lead) for a generalist role (allthough I hate the word generalist). Fair enough, different places, different titles.
You're obviously well versed in a lot of disciplines, kudos!
Clodhopper: A breakdown doesn't necessarily mean showing all the elements of a shot but what you did on it. There shouldn't be any legal problems with that.

I'm not talking about "legal" problems.
Theres alot of reasons not to post a breakdown, one for example: its possible that anyone remotely involved with the project is going to litigiously split hairs with you- its better not to invite potential controversy.

Thanks Wiro, yeah I guess any of those titles could work too. In any case, regardless of the title, an explination of the work you contributed to the shot usually helps clarify an artists role on a project.

Very nice showreel
All I can say is that the breakdown would have been boring and wasted time on your reel, the flow of the reel was very relaxing, enjoyable and quite eye catching. Love the Anubis fella
If you watch Allan Mckay's reel, he has no breakdown and you have no idea of what exactly he's done, but you dont care, you know he's good, he's worked on academy award material.
Therefore my point is I figure your a top TD with top skills and you don't need to explain yourself on CG Talk, as already mentioned your not here for a job interview.
Though I dont ever want to be a Technical Director, my eyes & brain would blow up by the time I'm 30, I am very interested to wittness the quality of work you fellas do.
Rock on amegos!:buttrock:
