That would indeed be really cool. I've seen dozens of papers about 2D sketch to 3D model - and I take it that this is by one of the authors. Yep, just do a search of the ACM Digital library for "Takeo Igarashi" and there they are. :)
Now, this shows direct drawing onto a monitor. Wonder how well it works with graphics tablets or, worse, a mouse/trackball? I'd think that the latter is useless for this as it is very hard to work this way with a mouse/trackball.
It'd also be nice to see if you can get something useful exported from this or converted if it were a plugin (into polygons). I have no idea how the form is currently stored (procedural, polygons, NURBS, ...).
Thanks for the link!

Hasn't Teddy been done to death enough already? This software is years and years old now, and for some reason keeps on coming back up on CGTalk like a bad curry, as recently as a couple of weeks ago in the C4D forum (they even made an advanced version before it got was eventually integrated into Shade as "Magical Sketch"). Please do a search on "Teddy":

I agree (SketchUp as noted). But is there anything like this in Cinema 4D - this is what I think the original poster's direction was. :)

and per's point was to read some of the many many MANY other discussions on this. its in a commercial app, Shade you can export the polygonal meshes to cinema if you like or the orignal code was bought by efrontier http://www.e-frontier.com/article/articleview/1204/1/553?sbss=553

Sorry, didn't know that this has been discussed that many times before. Just thought that it was something rather recent as the post on the blog I got it from is just a few months old.
Actually I don't think that there would be a lot of use for it in Cinema. Maybe as a seperate standalone program but certainly not in the Core. :) Just wanted to share the link as I thought no one knows about it ;)
