Hi,

I'm starting an animated short film. I made the concept sketches and now I am modelling the main character. I am trying to model the head using correctly edge loops. If someone could give a look and point some mistakes on the edge loop modeling would be great.

Thanks!

Apart from that you have some mix of quads, ... uhm ... 3-sided-faces and 5-sided-faces it looks okay I'd say.

i agree it looks decent but its best if you go with all quads. get rid of any 3 and 5 sided faces it will be better for you in the long run

Typically you want the edgeloops coming from the lower eyelids down to the mouth loops, instead of to the nose like you have it. When they are correct, you get natural smile lines and such when creating blendshapes. It will be a bit different because of how long the character's face is, but I would try to get them if possible.

I don't know if this will cause problems or not, but I usually make the lip loops the same for both the top and bottom. For example, you have lots of loops on the bottom lip, but not all of those loops go around the top lip.

For a normal head, this is an example of the ideal geometry. Your face shape is different, but try to maintain the same flow.

Getting there, although in addition to PredatorGSR's tips, you might want to adjust the flow around the high-valence verticex under each cheek (where there are six edges going into one vertex). It might cause serious problems when animating as you won't have much control over the eyelids and it may show pinching when it renders.
