Hi there,

I was just wondering - since the HDRI's I believe Cartesius "transformed" for us mac users are quite 'old news' - does anyone have any new ones for us macsters or know where/how to get some?? I believe HDRShop is still only for windows:thumbsdow

Hi,

Did you know that Cinema4D8 already accepts .hdr files? Mac or PC, doesn't matter.

Anyway, there are some applications already that let you see and export hdr images in OSX, like Photoshphere or Film Gimp.

Ya ditto on an HDR shop for Mac.

Bry I think we can use the maps like you say but we cant use the extra brightness information that comes from them on a Mac for some reason.

This might be a silly question but I haven't played much with R8 but does it support hdri like the other apps like LW or max?

Can you reduce the hdr-images's brightness with Photosphere or FIlm Gimp - so that one could use the technique described here:

http://www.rain.org/~msavard/hdri/Articles/UsingHDRIs.html

- cause that's the main reason I'd like to have HDRShop for mac - to get the workaround rolling to use hdri's with R7..........:D

You can't use the aditional color information in the HDRI's because R8 doesn't support HDRI, only the file format, but it behaves like any other image file.

In Photosphere, you can use a sequence of photos with different exposures to create a .hdr file.

I haven't tried Film Gimp yet.

Actually, I have a whole new bunch of *.hdr's I'm planning on converting as soon as I get the time. I'll see what I can do with them next week

Hi,
do you really think that's necessary now that Cinema4D accepts .hdr files?
Even if you lose some time converting them, they won't be HDRI files anymore, so I don't see any advantage in that. It will be just the same as using the .hdr files.
I wouldn't waste that time.

Well, I'm still using 7 and will probably continue using it until I can afford R8 in a year or so, so for me (and several others) they will come in handy.
