Carmelo Leggiero - Character Animation Reel '07

Man, you guys coming out of animationmentor.com are realy good. I wish I could afford it.

Anyway - great animations, but the reel is too broken up, and the dead pauses between anims are too long. You could cut even the fades, I think, so it will become an action montage, and it will be more impressive and dynamic. I think. :)

I think you are right about the montage, i have to study better After Effect.
will see if i have the time to re-cut the reel. to be honest, i don't like the music and the render too :D!!!
but what's matter for me is that people like my animations.

Cut the fades, cut the name in the beging, and reduce the duration of the text portion at the end ;) This will make it better, IMHO.

Good stuff. I have two comments... I think the part where he picks up the tv looks a little weightless. The pull across the table is nice and I can feel the weight of the TV in his body but there's no absorption of the weight from the tv as it comes off the table and he lifts it into the air. I think adding some overlap in the wrists and offsetting the hands/tv with the body so it looks like he's using his body's momentum to help get the TV up in the air, would totally sell it.

Also. I like the iris effect cutting out of that shot but I would cut to your end title from there. The walk is fun but doesn't add much to your reel. If you really want it in there I would move it up in front of the dog walk, but honestly I think you should cut it, and end on a high note.

Ooooohhh man that's really nice. I would take out the last walk cycle, or maybe swap that with another shot...it doesn't cut out with the rest in quality

Uau really impressive real. I love the two character shot adn also the tv shot heheh. I think overall u need to spend more time on ur polishing, cos some stuff lacks a higher level of polish. But that is easy u jsut need time.


Man keep on aniamting keep on rockin and hope we see eachothoer sooon in a big studio.

Awesome reel. I especially like the lip sync with Kevin James and Will Smith! I do think you could of gone a bit further with it and maybe shown some of the fighting sequence that they had afterwards in that seen. Definitely some more personality shown in the later part of that scene but even so, it was a great animation. Good work! I'm starting AM in the Fall (providing I get accepted) and I'm really excited! What was your time there like? PM me if you don't mind answer some questions. Take care and congrats!
