View Full Version : Instancing referenced geometry, successful?
efecto 01-16-2007, 09:58 PM I'm trying to instance referenced geometry/animation on a group of particles.. but so far it's not been successful. Does maya allow me to instance referenced things?

What version of Maya are you using?
For particle instancing: try grouping the referenced geometry before applying the particle instancer. i.e. instance the non-referenced group node (all the referenced geometry will come along as well, but the instancer itself will only be dealing with the non-referenced transform).

Thanks. I'm using Maya 7. It seems to be due to the changes in names of the referenced object when referenced.
I just set up a new scene and also referenced in an object. At first it didn't work but it worked after changing the name of the referenced object.
eg) Blahblah: Object1 -> Object1
Now I'm going to try in my main scene.
