what is a respectable time period for texturing a human model within various areas. how long does it take some of ya?

It all depends on the detail. I would say hand painted for most of the parts. It takes me about 8 to 10 hours. Then you could always tweek it more.

It really depends on the model. It also depends on the size and number of maps involved, and what level of realism you are aiming for.

lol.
ok i suppose, the character would be realistic but not super realistic (couldnt achieve that anyway).
as an example it could be a marine, without a helmet.
no gun just a knife, hair painted on as a texture as he a is skin head.
boots and the lot. dogtags, dirty white vest. aiming for an intro of a game quality.

I would not worry about the speed I would worry about the final result. on a nother note Leigh when is your book comming out. I always love reading more things on texturing.

Absolutely. Even if something takes you weeks to finish, it's fine as long as it looks awesome! Don't always feel the necessity to rush things - it's not so much how quick you can do it, but how good it looks in the end.
Of course, you have to be able to draw the line somewhere though - you can't take months to texture something, because that would not always be acceptable, especially when you have a deadline.

At the end of the year ;)

Sadly not. Instead I will probably be dressed in a large, obnoxious chicked suit (with wattles), armed with a spoon and a spade.

It's actually specifically for LW, but it will contain loads of generic texturing theory, so that users of any software will be able to use it as a reference guide :)

I have no idea if it will be available in Asia - it's an American publisher.... I'll see if I can find out ;)
