View Full Version : numerically offset layers & keyframe timing?
Hi everyone,
Is there a way in AE (7.0.1) to numerically (i.e. via keyboard input) offset multiple keyframes / layers at the same time?
I'm actually searching for something like a 'ripple' button, i.e. a function that automatically offsets all keyframes right of my current working position in time according to the offset that I apply to a single keyframe (i.e. to 'my current working position'). I hope that does make sense somehow...? People familiar with Softimage|XSI's FCurveEditor might know what I'm talking about.
Hope that's not too much of a newbie question...
Cheers,
Markus

by offset you mean nudging the layers keyframes by X seconds or do you mean nudging the layers in space ?
In either case you should look up AE Scripting to handle it (scripting != expressions)

There's no built in function for that, but like mlk said, there are a few scripts out there that can do something along those lines.

Thanks for the info guys! :)
I meant nudging layers / keyframes by X frames at a time... I managed to nudge them a single frame with <ALT> + left/right arrow for keys and <ALT> + <PGUP>/<PGDOWN> for layers respectively, but I need something that works quicker than that for lsomething like 50 frames at once...
You wouldn't be able to point me into the right direction where to find a script that does that?
Cheers!

Add shift to either of those two key-combinations and you'll move in 10 frame increments rather than 1 frame. Not the most elegant solution, but it'll get you where you're going faster! :)
It works with CTRL-Left Arrow/Right Arrow (and Page Up/Page Down) as well for advancing frames.
very handy! thanks!!!

Markus
