View Full Version : render passes for direct and indirect lighting

Hi,

I'm using ctrl buffer to output render passes with mental ray for Maya .All my passes like color,diffuse,specular,reflection,ambocc are all working fine..

Have 2 point lights in my scene and I'm using fg with an exr plugged to an ibl node for indirect light.

What I want is a pass with only the direct lights and another one with only the fg . Have no problems to get the fg pass to work properly...linked the lights to an orenNayer shader (mib_illum_lambert seems buggy) in mode 2 to exclude the direct light contribution.

Here is my problem.... the direct light pass still has some fg/ibl contribution....turning down the fg-gain in the ibl node works...but that also turns off the fg pass. tried using ctrl rays , raytype and p_ray_type but can't seem to turn off the indirect light contribution in the direct light pass.Sounds very basic but can't seem to figure this one out.....
