I created a SSS shader test in a file and applied it to geometry and lit it with a 3 point light setup. I achieved the look I wanted and exported the shader network, but when I imported the network into a new scene and tried it rendering it on geometry in that scene, it didn't work at all.

I tried re-doing the lightmap but that didn't change a thing.

What's going on?

Yes it's a bit sucktacular. I've experienced this too.

I don't remember exactly what I did to repair it, but I'm assuming it's a light linking issue. You may need to specifically link your lights to include that object. Or perhaps even link the lights into the shader.

check the connections of the lightmap.... (connection to the shader and the shading group...)

this went bad at my place while doing the import export voodoo...
