View Full Version : texture mapping problem
Antonio79 01-14-2007, 04:50 PM Hello! I have a 3d model and I selected some parts of it where I want to apply a texture. So I made a lambert material and I applied a jpg on it (my texture), when I apply the material to my selection, what happens is that the texture (my jpg) is repeated in every face of the poligon, so there isn't one big jpg image covering the whole thing, but there are many images, one in every face of the poligon, what do I need to do? thank you

you need to texture map ur object. apply a map to it, depending on the shape of your object. open the UV editor to see the UVs, so u can control where the image sits on the object

the problem is that there are a lot of small images (the same one repeated) on each face of the poligon, instead of a one big image covering the whole poligon...

In order to apply your .jpg texture as one big "map" to all of your faces you must "UV Map" your model and texture. A quick search around the net will help you achieve your goal.
For you benefit I have a couple of links for you:
