View Full Version : Need help with face/skin texture.
Isamu7 02-20-2003, 07:49 AM I am desperately seeking really good tutorials and books on creating texture maps. My school doesn't come anywhere near teaching texture map creation and my own searches haven't turned up much.
While I model fairly well, they end up looking horrible because I can't create good texture maps. It drives me a little crazy to see all these wonderfuly textured scenes and not be able to come even close to doing it myself. I really need some teaching/learning materials on creating texture maps, so if anyone could point me in a good direction, I'd greatly appriciate it.
Thanks! :)

I like 3d texture workshop vol 1 by bill fleming. It shows how to paint a head in photoshop it uses frankenstine as a model but once you learn the tecnique you can transfer it to anything. Some tips would be start with your bump map. Then go on to diffuse and spec and leave color for last.

I would say that colour is the most important mapping to learn first, since it is with your colour maps that you lay down all the details, minor or major, to be included in all your other maps. It also sets the tone (excuse the pun) for the entire look of the character/object.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You wouldn't believe what little help I've gotten on this subject in the past. To finally get some good tips and a good book to look at is just quite awsome. I was getting sooooo sick of building my models and ruining them with awful textures.
Thanks! :buttrock:
